Caterham F1 CT01 Revealed

Caterham F1 CT01

Hi Racers,

And so it begins, one of my favourite part of the pre season getting underway is the Formula 1 teams unveiling their new cars that will take their drivers through the new 2012 season.

Carterham were first cab off the rank, after initially hoping that their unveiling would be in the new edition of the F1 magazine, it didn’t go entirely as planned after a few UK readers received their magazines early and leaked the images. Carterham were quick to respond on Twitter (@MyCarterhamF1 ) and provide much clearer photos of the new Carterham F1 CT01.

The new "stepped" nose is evident.

The car is already being criticised as being “an ugly platypus” because of the ugly new nose design, however, Mike Gascoyne ( Chief Technical Officer ) confirmed the new “stepped ” nose exists to comply with the new standards limiting nose height.

Carterham kept with the Green/Gold theme from Lotus in 2011

All in all, I don’t mind it. I think they have done a good job to introduce themselves as their own team, away from Lotus, that they were previously known for.

The Carterham F1 CT01 continues to house its Renault Sport F1 engine and Red Bull technology gearbox.

The new “stepped” nose certainly wont just be on the Carterham, prelim pictures that have been leaked of Ferrari, for example, show similar, “not so attractive” changes.

With changes to regulations this year, it’s expected that the cars we once knew will change.

Lets get geared up for Red Bulls unveiling! Only just past a week to go 🙂
